Hello Monday. Do we really have to do this? For the sake of others let’s pretend like we like each other.
Hello to you the reader that frequently comes here to this blog. Today is a new day, another chance for you to make a difference in
your life, to be productive. I am sorry to break this down to you but we are technically half way through the year. When it was January, I couldn’t wait for it to strike June, now June is here and I can not wait for December and all its festivities, for sunny days, laughing out loud with friends and for late sunsets.
To sum it up, I have a problem, and Dr. Robert Holden puts it very well he says, “Beware of Destination Addiction – a preoccupation with the idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job, and with the next partner. Until you give up the idea that happiness is someplace else, it will never be where you are.” – So now I have decided to enjoy the present moment and try not to linger in thought daydreaming for sunny days and fun times with friends. Happiness is right here, in solitude typing this blog post while listening to the rain pouring outside and waiting for my tea to cool down so I could drink it and after that start sewing. This here is happiness and I shouldn’t be preoccupied with the idea of happiness being in the next place.
I have been sourcing some thrift items for the pop-up store, I walked into a hospice shop with this faux fur jacket displayed on the window-display and I knew I had to go home with it coz, a) It looks warm for winter days. b) someone will appreciate it and buy it, But little did I know that I would keep it for myself after a good soak and handwash. The trick about buying vintage items, you must always see the potential in them. When I bought this jacket it had tea / pea stains (whichever one you would like to think of) and the best thing I do is read the care instructions and I get happy when it is says, “HAND WASH ONLY” instead of the dreaded DRY-CLEAN-ONLY label. So I soaked and washed this faux fur jacket on a sunny day and wore it that very same day on a night out with friends and my name for the night was BIG-BIRD. Oh, the friends I keep. As much as I love this jacket a girl’s gotta eat so it will soon find a new home when i sell it at the Thrift Pop-up soon.
Have a fantastic week! Remember to always enjoy every present moment. Do not worry about tomorrow, focus on the good about today.
