I am a true advocate of education, it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself. It is said that the most successful entrepreneurs are college drop-outs, fair enough you may have a valid point but I still beg to differ with you. Education is so important in my books, it gives you a steady landing when you take those giant leaps and uncalculated risks, education is the back-up plan. When I talk about education I am not only focusing on formal learning where you go to school and get a degree, I’m talking about both informal and formal education. Informal education would consist of learning from those with more experience than you within the industry that you would like to get into.
And that is why I have enrolled at Design Academy of Fashion (DAF) to do a shortcourse in Pattern Making and Garment Construction, to refine my skills in order to be a great asset in the growth of my business and in the industry I intend of serving in, fashion retail. Paying for my own fees was not an easy task for me and my financial standing, considering that I’m also on a quest of completing my degree at UNISA, yes before you say it, I am a busy girl.
I am excited for the commencement of my short course (25 June) at DAF and I will update you constantly on my social media platforms, follow Pigments Studio on all social media platforms. You still have an opportunity to apply for the short course and other fashion courses that DAF offer. Tomorrow they have an Open Day, which I will be attending. It will be so informative, see the line up on their Facebook page. Honestly, if this is something of interest to you, to study fashion or just have housewife skills drop all your Saturday morning plans and come to the DAF Open Day.
